SOFTWARE SOURCE CODE ESCROW PRESENTATION INTERESTING! We send our thanks out to Bill Niedfelt and Bill Gellman who coordinated our speaker John Jacob Stulman from Source File. In essence, Source File provides software source code and technology escrow services. A source code is "the original language in which a computer program is written. It is compiled into object code (0's and 1's) which is licensed to the end user. Changes, bug fixes and routine program maintenance must be made to the source code level." Source File provides, "an arrangement where a source code for a computer program is held in trust by a third party during the period of time it is supported by the vendor." "Should the vendor cease to support the program or become insolvent the licensee acquires a limited license for the use of the of source code to maintain the licensed software."
