General Auction Presentation Addresses Problems Gene Govoreau of General Auction discussed the current contract and answered questions regarding their service. Gene recommended that whenever possible, each city should inventory items on pallets for tracking. Each City has it's own consignor number and we are able to indicate a minimum dollar amount required on specific items. These items can be put on individual pallets, but we must notify General Auction of our intent. General Auction can provide a trailer that can be placed at your site, loaded with items and picked up for auction. General has auctions every three weeks on Saturdays. April Presentations |

Next Meeting The next meeting of LAMPPAC will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2001. Armando Camarena of Nationwide Auction Systems will be attending to talk about their new website which enables cities to conduct real-time investigations of their auction items. Jerry Lippman of Jay-Ell Marketing will also be presenting information regarding surplus liquidation. Gasoline Bid Information The State of Calif. contract for fuel with Falcon Fuels, Inc. seems to be the best bet out there at this time. Their prices are .056 off OPIS for gas and .049 plus OPIS for diesel. That beats the current Lamppac contract prices. The only condition may be that a full truck and trailer load must be made in order to avoid an adtl. surcharge of .089/gal. If you would like further information, please contact Julio or Keisha of Falcon Fuels at (562) 272-4226. |

Information Needed, Given and Shared Jan Steese, City of Arcadia is going out to bid on water meters. Please forward information on quantities and types to Jan if you would like to participate. She is currently looking into several manufacturers for the bid. Richard Moore, City of Carson, is looking for information regarding equipment maintenance insurance. Has any city used ERC for this type of insurance? Lisa Villigas, City of Burbank, is having problems with Oracle Purchase Order and encumbrance system. If you can give her any insight, please call. Janna Kliebert,City of Lakewood, purchased a new handicapped bus from Creative Bus Sales and discovered that the driver seat can not accommodate a tall driver. She is investigating to see if this was a result of a manufacturer specification issue or defect and would like to know if any other agencies have run into this problem. Felice Fromm, City of Torrance, has moved her purchasing staff into a new office location. She also announced that Torrance is opening a new nature center. Cynthia Duprey, City of South Gate, announced that the AQMD has established Rule No. 1191, effective July 1, 2001. The rule requires that passenger car, light-duty truck, or medium-duty vehicle fleet operators acquire low-emitting gasoline or alternative-fuel vehicles to reduce air toxic and criteria pollutants emissions when procuring or leasing these vehicles in the District. For more information, check out the AQMD website. Cynthia also recommended that we check our Pagenet bills very carefully to make sure they comply with our LAMPPAC agreement which outlines a 5% service access fee. Some agencies have been charged 10% in the past. Tammy Weldon, City of Norwalk, is having dead battery problems with Nextel phones. Bill Gellman, City of Brea, is looking for bid specifications on painting large vehicles, a trailer-mounted propane steam cleaner, walk behind trencher and auto body repair. |
