Presentations Were An Informative Success

Nationwide Auctions Systems and Jay-Ell Marketing Co. presented information regarding their companies and the benefits that could be realized for LAMPPAC members. Nationwide Auctions has five locations in the United States.

Auctions are held every two weeks with 2000-5000 people attending. They have created a website which provides real-time information to customers and consigners regarding auction items.

You can submit items for pickup, track the status of an item and follow through to the final payment. Digital camers capture images of items which help customers search and inspect items.

Nationwide keeps in contact with consigners through email which is "triggered" from the website. Agencies can also set up user defined fields to help with tracking, ie. dept name, etc.

Check out the site at www.nationwideauction.com or contact Armando Camarena at (626) 968-3110. Jay-Ell Marketing is an equipment liquidator and surplus auction broker. Jerry Lippman, President, has created an Asset Disposal Network of clientele which allows for the buying and selling of new and used merchandise, equipment, fixtures and a broad range of other products.

Jay-Ell is also a direct representative for mineral materials from mining sources. If interested, he can provide samples for testing. You can contact Jerry at (310) 542-4164.

Information Needed, Given and Shared

Paul Martinez, City of Santa Fe Springs, is working on RFP's for Wide Area Network and a citywide phone system. If you have a good example to follow, please forward to Paul.

Bill Niedfelt, City of Fullerton, has signed up with DemandStar and will keep us posted on results of their efforts.

Beverly Crisp, City of Buena Park, will be working with contractor for the building of a new civic center. We wish her luck!

Marc Monforte, LAUSD, should have the flag contract available at the next meeting. Marc also let us know that US Communities contract for modular furniture is the best pricing out there.

Lisa Villegas, City of Burbank, notified members that they have moved into a new building. The city will be demolishing and rebuilding. Their purchasing division is currently going over all price agreements for the fiscal year that expire June 30 for renewal.

Gwen Eng, City of Manhattan Beach, was bidding for sporting goods and received bids from two different companies but noticed that they were from the same fax machine number. After investigating, she found out that BSN, GSC, Conlin Bros., etc. are all under the same base company. GSC is the governmental unit which should deal with cities but the other "arms" are also bidders in some instances. Please watch your bids in the future to make sure that problems won't arise with bidders. Sports Chalet now has a commercial group that can bid for sporting goods and recreation items.

Felice Fromm, City of Torrance, has a great furniture vendor. InterService in Orange County has done excellent work with Torrance for furniture and knows GSA pricing. Special Deliveries Company in Palos Verdes is also a wonderful vendor for promotional items. If you would like further info about either vendor, contact Felice.

Patty Romo, City of Pasadena, is looking for a vendor who can supply specialized forms for a Bell and Howell Wick Water System printer. It prints with water and must use a special paper. Her current paper vendor is going out of business and will no longer be able to supply. If you have any info that can help Patty, please let her know.
