MEMBERSHIP DRIVE TO BE HELD

Members discussed the decline in membership over the years and decided to take a pro-active approach in reaching out to potential new members.

It was decided that LAMPPAC will host a holiday event during the December meeting and each member will invite possible new members. Food and drinks will be served.

This event is being billed as a "Member Recognition and Outreach" meeting. School District purchasing personnel are a great group to target as there are no current co-op type of groups for school districts that are structured like LAMPPAC.

Start thinking about who you can invite and we will have printed invitations available to pass out at the November meeting.

Bill Niedfelt from the City of Fullerton shared some valuable information regarding water meter subsidy funds available to cities In the interest of providing a water supply to California's residents that is free from lead contamination.

The California Water Meters Subsidy Fund offers a subsidy to purchase non-lead meters from ABB Water Meters, Inc., Hersey Meters, Inc. or Master Meter, Inc. This subsidy is for residential water meters is sized 3/4" or smaller. The subsidy amounts are as follows:

3/4" meters - $9.00 per meter

5/8" meters - $6.50 per meter

Each water district may seek up to $35,000 in subsidy money per year. Requests will be processed in the order they are received, until the Fund is entirely depleted for the year.

The total amount of the Fund is $350,000 per year. If, at the end of the year, any money remains in the Fund, any water district that has already received its $35,000 allotment may apply for the excess, to cover additional water meter purchases that have occurred that year, on a first come, first served basis.

Please see the attached information and request form for further information.

NEWS & INF

Marc Monforte of LAUSD will be going out to bid soon for Dell Computers and will share any information received with the membership.

Jan Steese, City of Arcadia is looking for information and vendors to provide a Navistar International USAR vehicle. If you know of this unit, please contact Jan. Jan is also looking for cities that currently have "old" single line, AT&T phones in their EOC. Jan is in need of replacing some of their broken phones and would like to match their existing stock. If you have spare phones or may be replacing yours soon, please let Jan know.

Several members discussed the Nextel phones and the direct connect feature of the phones. Many cities can "do away with" their pagers for employees if they have the Nextel phones. It is not necessary to activate cellular service to receive the direct connect "radio" option on the phones. If you would like further informaiton, please contact Nextel Govt. Section.

The City of Lakewood is re-recruiting for the Purchasing Officer position. If you are interested, please contact City of Lakewood Personnel Division.

Pati Romo, City of Pasadena questioned members on what they are currently doing to comply with the new AQMD regulations regarding the purchase of alternative fuel vehicles. Many agencies are still not "up to date" with their purchases of alternative fuel vehicles. The new regulations went into effect on July 1st of this year. You can contact the AQMD website for further information.

Have a Happy & Safe Halloween!
