Janna
Kliebert, City of Lakewood, let members know that the
first round of interviews will be conducted during the
month of December for Purchasing Officer. Kathleen Hodge,
Torrance Unified School District, shared her copier buying
program with the group. Torrance USD buys refurbished
Konica copiers for their 35 school sites. The copiers
produce approx. 40 million copies each year. This process
saves approx. $40,000 per year for the District. Kathleen
is also looking for any agency that has paper-oriented
or styrfoam bids for food services.
Cynthia
Duprey, City of South Gate, warned all members to thoroughly
examine their Nextel bills for overbilling charges. South
Gate found approx. $2500 a month in overbilling. There
is also a new i60 phone from Nextel that doesn not require
the "group" programming. It has a chip that can be transfered
from phone to phone.
Lisa
Aubrey, LADWP, is looking for strategic partnership purchases
for water supplies. If any agency works with this type
of partnering with vendors, please contact Lisa and share
your info.
