US COMMUNITIES EXPANDING CONTRACTS

Rob Braulik with US Communities presented the group with an informative presentation on the benefits of working with contracts through US Communities. US Communities is a nonprofit group that assists public agencies in pooling their purchasing power nationwide and working with a lead agency in soliciting competitive bids for products. Several new contracts becoming available are janitorial supplies, tools and material handling, carpet and flooring, electrical supplies, classroom furniture and copiers. Many members may be aware of existing contracts that have been in place for office supplies and office furniture. US Communities has also created an on-line registration system on their website, www.uscommunities.org, which allows agencies to work with any vendor in their system. There's no longer any need to sign contracts with vendors to participate. You are also notified by email when new vendors are added to the system. A new feature coming soon is the ability to check other which other agencies are participating with a contract.

Once aspect that LAMPPAC members discussed with Rob was the including of a solicitation summary for each contract on the program which would give us the "backup" information needed to go to Council, etc. That info has now been included on the site and you can find this information at http://www.uscommunities.org/contracts_rfps.htm .

If you would like further information about the program, contact Rob at (866) 472-7467, ext. 220 or at rbraulik@us communities.org.

PAGER CONTRACT CHANGES TO TAKE EFFECT

Gwen Eng reported that Arch Wireless is requesting to make a change in the pricing of Advanced Messaging features. The change lowers the rates to be charged for this service, so it's a benefit to members. Gwen has also been working with Arch to create a master database of LAMPPAC members to enable Arch to make "blanket" changes to our accounts. Gwen is requesting that all participating agencies please provide their account numbers to her as soon as possible so she can provide Arch current information. You can contact Gwen at Manhattan Beach for further information.
